A light, fluffy, flourless garlic bread alternative made with whipped egg whites, shredded cheese, and garlic seasoning. Soft, cheesy, and very low in carbs.

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup shredded cheese, such as mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mixed Italian seasoning or mixed spices
  • Optional: pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Place egg whites in a clean mixing bowl and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Add shredded cheese, garlic powder, mixed seasoning, and optional salt.
  4. Gently fold the mixture together using a spatula. Do not overmix or the egg whites may deflate.
  5. Scoop small portions onto the prepared baking tray and shape into rounded mounds.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden on top and set in the center.
  7. Let cool for 3-5 minutes before serving so they firm up slightly.

Notes

  • This recipe is very low-carb, but not completely zero-carb because cheese and seasonings can contain small amounts of carbohydrates.
  • Mozzarella gives a softer, bread-like texture, while cheddar gives a stronger cheesy flavor.
  • Do not overmix after adding the cheese or the mixture will lose air and become flat.
  • For extra garlic bread flavor, brush the tops with melted butter and parsley after baking.
  • Best served fresh, as the texture may soften after refrigeration.
